Question:
Well my aches and pains went away there for a bit but they are back
again - and I am worried.
I have been obsessing that I might have something like Fibromyalgia -
but when I do a check of the tender points I don't really have any.
I went to work today and my arms just started to ache - the muscles in
the forearms just felt like they were getting tighter and tighter -
and my upper arms ache too. It was hard to do any typing at work like
this (I think doing this new computer position might be adding
problems here too). The aching seems mostly limited to my arms but
after I walk someways my knees start to feel a little sore too. My
sleeping isn't too great either and I am sure this contributes - I am
taking Celexa and it does make me drowsy but oddly I seem to toss and
turn still when I go to bed.
I was doing a little big of working out yesterday - don't laugh - but
I thought since my arms seem to be achy I should maybe do light weight
lifting - since there are no weights around here I did some curls with
the bottle of laundry soap . Am I that out of shape that such
little exercise can cause my forearms to get so sore? Can anxiety
make the muscles tighten up in the arms (I usually hear just about
shoulders and necks being anxiety spots).
I worry because what I have read muscles are suppose to recover in
24-48 hours but mine don't seem to. I worry about having fibromyalgia
after reading the horrible personal stories of people with it on the
net (severe pain and disabling).
I went to the doctor today and she doesn't think I have Fibromyalgia -
she thinks it might be my anxiety and depression that causes it. I
just don't know if anxiety can cause horrible muscle tightening and
pain like this in the arms. I did get a CPK test done to check things
out - and I had the various other tests done a month or so ago to rule
out arthritis, lupus etc. My doctor gave me some samples of Vioxx to
help deal with the muscle pain - I haven't taken anything for the pain
yet. I am not sure that the Vioxx will do much good since my ESR
(measure of inflammation) was basically nil last time I had it done.
I am so tired of feeling ill - I hope this Celexa does something for
me soon.
Answer:
your aches and pains are no horrible disease, ok? They are a result
of anxiety and constant tension. As you are anxious all day and night your
muscles become tired and sore because they are always tense. That is ALL that
is happening. You have no bad syndrome going on so get that out of your head,
ok? We all have sore muscles and aching bones. The back of my legs are always
sore, when I am relaxed for more than one day they get better but when I am
tense they get sore.
You are ok, its just anxiety.
