Question:
I have been diagnosed for 8 years, but of course I went through about 8 prior
to that with "Maybe you need more exercise"--Which of course put me in bed for
days, or "I think you're depressed"--which cost me 18 months and many bucks
with a psychologist. Then a referral to a rheumatologist who said " Here are
some drugs. Good Luck! See you in four months for a blood test to see if the
drugs have killed your liver". None of this was very satisfactory, as I'm sure
all of you know.
I searched the internet to see what the latest thoughts were, took tons of
supplements that helped for awhile, worked hard at changing my nutrition (which
was not very successful on my part), and tried almost every thing I could find
to get me some relief.
In October, I was bedridden for 3 weeks. My husband had to help me to the
bathroom and did everything but spoon feed me. My rheumatologist wouldn't give
me more drugs, and my chiropractor was working on me at least weekly. No one
could give me any hope that I would ever improve.
My daughter send a friend to see me. I only saw her as a favor to my
daughter and because I didn't have the strength to resist. This woman, Barbara
Sandberg, has developed a new stress-management technique takes only 6 hours
and cost much less than anything else I have tried. And the results were
amazing! The 6 hours were done in 2 days, and I was up and around, more
comfortable than I had been in years. Barb had trained me how to keep myself
un-stressed and I am regaining my strength. I'm able to work on my nutrition
without resistance(which was always a problem before), I can remember to do my
stretches and have been able to prepare for the holidays myself!
Before this program I would have thought this was a bunch of baloney, but it's
proved to me that we do have the strength to heal ourselves. I just needed to
learn how
Answer:
Moving any way I can has been most beneficial. I used to use leg
weights-before fibro. My weights are such that I can start at a half
a pound and go up to about 10 pounds on each leg. I cant even lift
the 1/2 pound weights without causing me grief for the rest of the
day. I've tried Yoga and Tai Chi--but due to a congenital problem in
my knees--I cant fully utilize either program.
So, I settle for increasing repetitions in the same excercises I know
work and were prescribed by a PT. I swim in the summer--as long as
the pool is warm enough.
Other than getting very sick this year, I am almost keeping up with my
house work, cooking more often, etc. I am not going out more
often--because that has other issues not related to fibro.
