fibromyalgia testing question

Question:
how do doctors test for fibromyalgia ? is it similar to a lupus test?

Answer:
There is a blood test for FM that will be available in Europe later this year -the Anti-Polymer Antibody Assay, or APA Assay. The FDA has yet to approve it for use in the US but the process is underway. The test kit has been available directly from AutoImmune Technologies for several years now.

No doctor should base a diagnosis soley on a lab test result. Like tests for other rheumatological disorders there will be false negatives. For more info go the makers website: http://www.autoimmune.com/FMLetterMay99.html
