Request for support (Fibromyalgia)

Question:
my sister-in-law was just confirmed with Fibromyalgia and told by her doctor that she would just have to learn to live with it. There was nothing that could be done. She lives in the Houston area and is quite despondent about it. She has always been a very active person and is now suffering from all of the problems associated with chronic pain. Please give her some advice that will give her hope. Of course I will let her read what replies are posted.

Thank you for your help and support.

Answer:
That doctor should be taken out back and shot! I wish I could help her, but I don't have the disease. I will send my prayers and support, though, as a chronic pain sufferer. I wish I could recommend someone for her to see, but I am in Minnesota. Tell your sister-in-law that her doctor is a quack, and doesn't know what he is talking about; no one has to learn to live with pain. She should be able to find a doctor who can and will help her, with a little or a lot of checking around. Others here will have better advice and perhaps a referral or two for a good doctor who knows how to treat fibromyalgia.
