Question:
Recently, I ran into the son of a friend of mine who has
fibromyalgia. I was surprised to see him in such great shape as I had heard
for several years how crippling his illness was. He told me about a supplement
that he was taking that has been recommended by Johns Hopkins. This is no
magic potion but has helped in regaining strength. However, I can't find his
Email and I don't know the name of the supplement. Here's what I remember. It
is a powder that you mix up and refrigerate, drinking a quart or more daily.
It bears the name of the doctor who discovered it and his name begins with
"Gook", "Guk" or some variation . I also know that it is available on the
internet and is relatively cheap. If any of you know what this is or where I
might search to get an idea of it, I'd appreciate it.
Answer:
A search at http://search.jhu.edu/websearch.html for "fibromyalgia" returned a
50 articles containing information related to fibro. I could not find one
suggesting or recommending the use of a particular supplement. You may recognize
a word while scanning the pages so give it a try, though this sounds like
another "Watch your wallet" IMO.
