Question:
Is there anyone out there who has any experience with neuropathic pain (not
specifically RSD) superimposed on FMS? I'm hunting for resolution ( OK - any
help at all!) via meds or alternative treatment. In addition, I'm currently
on disability due to the symptoms of both the pain and the medicine. How have
you handled the disability issue?
Answer:
I can't say if what I am experiencing is *anything* like what you may be
going through, but I was dx'ed w/FMS 3 years ago and in a car accident
1 1/2 years ago. I now have two herniated cervical discs with spinal cord
impress. This causes me excruciating pain for days at a time - even if I
just move my head "wrong" (for the time I move it). The only respite I
get is from *large* doses of Soma (up to 8 per day PRN), elavil(up to
350mg/day prn), Lorcetup (to 4/day prn) and when that finally no longer
works to dull the pain, epidural cervical steroid injections.
I dont know if that will help at all, but see if you can get a referral
to an anesthesiologist - teh good ones have NO problem prescribing the
heavy-duty stuff, doing trigger point injection "on the spot" (although
they hurt for about 1 minute) and doing close follow-up.
If you are in Florida, email me privately and I can give you the name of
an *EXCELLENT* anesthesiologist.
