Question:
Is there anyone in the Uk who has had a whiplash and then gone on to
suffer Fibromyalgia? I had a whiplash two years ago and I was
diagnosed with fibtomyalgia about six months later. I am still in the
process of a claim for personal injury. I have had a medical about 7
months ago and the report said that due to soft tissue
injury(whiplash) it was possible that my fibromyalgia had been
accelerated. My solicitor now wants me to seek a rheumatologists
advice to ascertain how much the acceleration has been. Surely there
is no way a person could knoe that?? It is such a grey area isnt it???
I would be grateful for any response on this in particular from Uk
sufferers because it seems to be the British are always way behind the
Americans with reference to comepnsation?
Answer:
Since Fibromyalgia Syndrome is a diagnosis of exclusion don't accept
it as what is wrong until *everything else* including brain injury
from the whiplash have been eliminated.
Is your diagnosis "Fibromyalgia Syndrome" or "fibromyalgia" which is a
medical term that means Muscle Pain.
IMO, You should be evaluated by a neurologist for Craniovertebral
Stenosis to see if you suffered a brain stem injury from the whiplash.
Have your solicitor read at;
http://www.fibromyhelp.com/Rosnerneck.html
http://myalgia.com/Scientific%20basis.htm
& have him determine just what your diagnosis is saying is wrong.
Only if you had been evaluated before the injury.
That is because of the name 'fibromyalgia' being used to describe 2
different conditions with some of the same symptoms.
