Question:
Before I smack my head of the wall or start screaming I really could do with
some suggestions to take to my GP. I have been told the terrible pain I get
under the left breast on the rib cage is very common with Fybromayalgia.
Indeed my daughter who has fibro also has it. This pain is incredible and
nothing seems to help. At present I jst spent a week in hospital with a
chest and bladder infection and got sent home as they couldn't feed me
properly because of my allergies. I have now been put on ZYDOL SLR twice a
day and 900mgs Gabapentin twice daily plus MAxilon and Losec to control the
sickness. I bought a second hand sears back brace off ebay whic keep my rib
cage straighter and helps. I'm scared to use a tens machine there as it is
very close to the middle of my chest. Had loads opain meds. But at least
this time I did get referred again to the pain clinic so may get an
appointment this time. ANY SUGGESTIONS PLEASE.
Answer:
I've had this pain ages. I just had a two week chest infection and on the
xray it showed that the muscles around the rib are inflamed. I typed in
Fibromyalgia UK and Rib pain and the amount of pages and people asking about
this pain is huge. My daughter found the first stuff for me. I have a a sear
back brace I got of the ebay auctions which kind of flattens the chest and
plumper bits of me but I need to get a rib brace and it looks as this will
have to be bought privately as the NHS here is so broke. I wish I could help
you but I'm struggling here. t's permanent stabbing pain and only this
elasticated corset affair seems to help. However your idea of holding breath
is a good one for me as I play the flute and whistle in a Folk band and tend
to hold my breath for a long time to stay comfortable. Then... I need to use
an inhaler. So I can't win
