Disability for Fibromyalgia

Question:
Anybody is on disability for fibromyalgia, I undersand social security will kick in and put you on disability . Please reply?

Answer:
Now it is kind of hard to respond to such an open question. Social security depends on a lot of things and there are different kinds. None of them kick in automatically. You must file for them.

There is social security for those aged 62 and above--normal kind. There is SSI for people who are destitute and can't work due to a disability--you need medical documentation.

There is SSDI if you are disabled, not destitute and have enough qualifying quarters--and you need medical documentation.

My SSDI award is not based on fibro, it isn't even mentioned, but depression and anxiety and bipolar are the reasons for my award.
